We’re so glad you found us - We can’t wait to meet you!
Kia ora, I’m Becky, Specialist Sports Dietitian and founder of The Performance Pantry. Since 2015, my mission has been to cut through the noise of conflicting nutrition advice and provide trusted, practical and evidence-informed support for athletes, parents and coaches.
With strong qualifications and years of experience working with real people, not textbooks, we believe accurate nutrition advice should be accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability, body size, or identity. Our focus is not just on health, training, and performance, but more-so on leading a positive relationship with food, body, and mind.
We’re proud to support a wide range of active people and elite athletes, and also provide consultancy to teams, and Te Whatu Ora.

OUR APPROACH:
Our weight-neutral approach to sports nutrition focuses on fuelling for performance and health without prioritising weight change, instead emphasising specific nutrient needs for function, life, training and recovery.
In brief, it involves sustainable and healthy behaviours, including, consuming a varied nutrient intake and adjusting this based on the intensity and duration of exercise to optimise energy, muscle repair, and long-term health. But, in reality the role of nutrition, and the nutrition environment is so much more than this, which is why it’s hard to capture everything here!
Competing at your best doesn’t mean obsessing over food.
Yes, structured plans work for some, but for many athletes, constantly counting, timing, and tracking food can become overwhelming (and sometimes harmful).
As an active person or athlete, you already juggle training, work, life, competition, and recovery. Nutrition should support you, not add extra stress. A healthy relationship with food is just as important as fuelling performance, and research shows athletes are at higher risk of disordered eating, especially in sports that focus on weight or appearance.
That’s where working with a non-diet sports dietitian can make the difference. Instead of strict rules, we’ll create practical, sustainable strategies that fit your life and your goals, without micromanaging every bite. You’ll gain confidence that you’re fuelling well, while freeing up mental space for the things that really matter: training, performance, enjoying your sport and life!

DIETS ARE FLAWED AND WE DON’T DO THEM!
We get that most people think of a Dietitian and weight loss being best friends, but this is not for us! When you learn that roughly 95% of diets fail in the long term if success is defined as maintaining weight loss after only 3–5 years. Plus all the biological and psychological damage caused during this time, AND moreover, that sustained healthy behaviours — movement, diet quality, sleep, stress, social connection — have strong, independent effects on long-term health, whether or not weight changes, then why are diets still being promoted?? Read more on our blog about this!
We acknowledge that weight concerns are highly prevalent in sport and exercise. Restrictive eating and dieting are not the solution to these concerns, and quite often cause more harm than good. There are other ways to approach these concerns that prioritise health, performance, and well-being. By focusing on healthy behaviours, fuelling the body effectively, building strength, and supporting a positive relationship with food, athletes can achieve their goals in a more sustainable and balanced way. It’s also key to look at the wider environment and unpack the culture of this.
