LUCY BURROWS - SPORTS DIETITIAN
Kia ora! I’m Lucy, a Sports Dietitian at The Performance Pantry based in the sunny Hawkes Bay!
Competing at CrossFit Nationals
I have over 10 years clinical nutrition experience and my own elite level sports participation at national level gymnastics, hockey and more recently CrossFit and half iron man triathlon!
My involvement competing in different sports at a young age really highlighted the importance to me about how nutrition does impact on health and well-being, and not just for performance. So, I feel privileged now to share my knowledge in these areas with my clients and to be a part of a long lasting health journey that goes beyond our appointments or completing an event.
My Qualifications:
NZ Registered Dietitian with prescribing status
Sports Dietitian - SDA (provisional)
ISAK I Anthropometrist
Masters of Dietetics
Bachelor of Applied Science - Sports Nutrition
My background in clinical nutrition and healthcare has spanned working in children’s health (paediatrics), GP clinics, mental health services as well as sport, so I really enjoy working with a range of ages and nutrition areas. My approach is the same with everyone, regardless of if you’re a first time runner, a seasoned triathlete looking for those 1% gains or for support with REDs or eating concerns. I’m here to join your team supporting your nutrition journey and working in collaboration with you, is not only more effective, but also fun!
I offer you individualised, evidence informed advice that is grounded in practical suggestions or action steps - we eat food, not macro’s right?! I also really enjoy chatting about all the nutrition myths out there, and can help you to separate fact from fiction and also figure out what is meaningful to you, rather than what we all “should be doing”. It’s always so rewarding working together with a client and seeing someone develop confidence in their own nutrition choices and be able to carry this on beyond appointments.
I've worked with a number of different amateur and professional athletes including gymnasts, swimmers, triathletes and teams including Central Districts Cricket and Hawkes Bay Rugby. As a mum of two young children, I also know what it’s like to juggle and balance work life with being mum, and finding the time to enjoy training or being active and this is an area of nutrition that is gaining more momentum that I can help with - nutrition for active females across pregnancy and postpartum.
Outside of work I love exploring my beautiful part of NZ, being so close to the beach and nature with my children, walking the dogs, training at my local CrossFit gym and spending time with family and friends in the Bay.
