BECKY JONES - SPORTS DIETITIAN
Kia ora! I’m Becky, Specialist Sports Dietitian and the founder of The Performance Pantry.
Nutrition, science, sport and exercise were my favourite topics at school and that passion is still going strong, 30 years later! I love the interaction they have in health, and how it all comes together for peak performance. I have a background in competitive sport, and love learning about different sports. I grew up in the UK and moved to NZ over 15 years ago.
Swimming NZ pre Olympic Camp, 2024
My qualifications:
NZ Registered Dietitian
SDA Eating Disorders in Sport
ISAK Anthropometrist Level 2
International Olympic Committee Diploma - Sports Nutrition
Post Graduate Diploma Nutrition & Dietetics
BSc Sport & Exercise Science
I often describe sports nutrition like a pyramid—starting with strong foundations and building tailored strategies as your goals and competition level progress. As a highly experienced Registered Dietitian, I combine evidence-based sports nutrition with approaches like intuitive eating, weight neutrality, and the Non-Diet Approach. My focus is on helping people fuel well, improve their relationship with food, and navigate the often-confusing messages around weight, performance, and health.
Alongside running The Performance Pantry, I provide nutrition support to elite athletes and organisations including High Performance Sport NZ, Royal New Zealand Ballet, Cricket Wellington, and Underwater Hockey NZ. Outside of work, I love family life with my partner, two young children, and our dog, and enjoy running and trail biking around Wellington.

What clients say about working with me:
“I thought that I didn’t fit a category for Becky’s dietary help- or that I was too complex and not enough of an athlete. With a long-standing TBI, gastro conditions and fear around a change in eating I was overwhelmed at how to progress - but knew I needed to be better sustained. Becky put me right at ease and has been one of the best health professionals I’ve used (and there have been many!). Her primary concern is how I’m feeling and getting on, taking the focus off of REDs and feeling stuck with limited food groups. Purchasing a package of session has worked so well. She has a been compassionate, understanding my individual needs and has totally worked with where I am at. I’ve felt well guided with bite sized changes- getting closer to a nourished place and gaining confidence in food/drink choices to reach for- and hopeful for fuelling new adventures too.”
