BECKY JONES - SPORTS DIETITIAN
Kia ora! I’m Becky, Specialist Sports Dietitian and the founder of The Performance Pantry.
Nutrition, science, sport and exercise were my favourite topics at school and that passion is still going strong today! I love the interaction they have in health, and how it all comes together for peak performance. I have a strong background in competitive sport, mostly in athletics and hockey, and love learning about different sports. I grew up in the UK and moved to NZ over 10 years ago.
My qualifications:
NZ Registered Dietitian
SDA Eating Disorders in Sport
ISAK Anthropometrist Level 2
International Olympic Committee Diploma - Sports Nutrition
Post Graduate Diploma Nutrition & Dietetics
BSc Sport & Exercise Science
We often talk about sports nutrition being similar to a pyramid; with different levels of advice and strategies based on where you are at. I can help you build a solid foundation to grow from and then take it up a layer or two, or three, according to what your goals are, or what level you’re competing at. It’s pretty exciting for me to share all this cool nutrition stuff with you, and then see how it plays out in the real world - PBs, and/or great health, here you come!
As a highly experienced Registered Dietitian, I offer a holistic approach incorporating many different practice areas into my work. Mindfulness, intuitive eating, behaviour change, motivational interviewing and the Non-Diet Approach contribute to my work, which goes way beyond a meal plan. I enjoy assisting individuals to improve their relationship with food, and can help navigate the muddy waters of weight, body composition and performance outcomes. It can be pretty confusing with a lot of conflicting and old school advice out there.
In addition to running The Performance Pantry, I provide nutrition services to elite NZ athletes through High Performance Sport New Zealand, am the Lead Performance Nutritionist at Swimming New Zealand, the New Zealand School of Dance, the Royal New Zealand Ballet, and Cricket Wellington. Outside of work, I have a partner, 2 young children and dog which take up a lot of my time, and I’m enjoying my return to road and trail running.
